New brand, new name, new office
Aker Solutions' Stockton-based business in the UK has had an eventful 2008. Having moved into a purpose-built office in January 2008 and successfully managing the name change from Aker Kvaerner to Aker Solutions in April 2008, the new brand is highly visible from the A66 and is quickly becoming a local landmark. The business has been busy encouraging further investment into the region while launching the Aker Solutions brand across all its industry sectors.
Attending major events, such as ChemEng08, DeCom08 and Mines and Money, together with a strong presence at local networking events, has been effective in generating business opportunities.
Hosting technology workshops and collaborating with Teesside University Business School demonstrates Aker Solutions' continued commitment to our vision, “to be the preferred partner”.
Since re-establishing the brand as a major enterprise in the region Aker Solutions are now recognised as an employer of choice. With a new local recruitment website www.engineerswithattitude.co.uk and highly regarded Investor In People status, more than 100 people have been recruited into the business, working from our Stockton, Whitehaven and Warrington offices.
Ongoing involvement with local education initiatives highlights our dedication to promoting design engineering careers for future generations. Aker Solutions are working closely with NEPIC sponsoring the North East Process Industry Cluster’s primary science unit and are aligned with MacMillan College in support of their flagship engineering diploma for 14-19 year old students.
Meanwhile, the Aker Academy continues providing opportunities for young employees to ‘train and gain’ whilst working towards their qualifications. Our newly qualified graduate engineers are embracing the opportunity to actively share their knowledge with local school children.
