Graduate Engineers & Apprenticeship Engineering Opportunities
Aker Solutions's head office in Stockton provides summer placements to university students studying engineering courses, giving them the opportunity to test their skills on real engineering projects and gain valuable multi-sector project experience.
Applications for summer placements will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Aker Solutions apprenticeship engineering scheme has been training technical apprentices to become qualified engineers for many years. Today, we’re recognised as one of the largest trainers of young engineers in the North East. With the help of NETA in Stockton, we’ve helped to train over 200 apprentices in various disciplines in the past five years alone.
It’s already helped to bring through some of the highest calibre graduate engineering students across all the disciplines into key positions within the company and customers’ sites. Aker Solutions expects to take on a significant number of graduate engineers this year to meet the growth plans of the company.
Designed to grow the talent of tomorrow, our apprentice technician/engineer programme in the Tees Valley was relaunched in 2005, and runs in alliance with other Tees Valley engineering companies. A number of Aker Solutions’s apprentices have been identified for fast-tracking through to the Higher National Certificate, which will enable them to target a foundation degree and eventually an honours degree on their way to becoming a professionally-qualified engineer.
Launched in 2002, our undergraduate programme offers a 12-month placement to students, whatever their discipline - from engineering, including Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Chemical, Civils, Mechanical, to Business Studies, I.T. and Marketing.
Undergraduates come from all over the UK to gain experience of engineering, from design through to construction and commissioning, and even through to decommissioning, across a range of different industries. This hugely successful programme has already seen Aker Solutions sponsor several students through their final year at university, giving them the chance to join our graduate development programme.
The Aker Solutions UK Graduate Development Programme is now accredited by the IMechE, IEE/IET and IChemE. The four-year programme is designed to help you learn faster and go further. It's already helped to bring through some of the highest calibre engineering students across all the disciplines into key positions within the company and customers' sites. Aker Solutions expects to take on a significant number of graduates this year to meet the growth plans of the company.
